PHABRIX announces two new rasterizers at IBC 2011

PHABRIX, a leading provider of test and measurement instruments for the professional broadcast industry, announced it will reveal two new rasterizer products on its stand at IBC 2011 - the Rx 1000 and the Rx 500. Both are based upon its much heralded Rx technology which allows different broadcast test and measurement modules to be added for a range of broadcast test and measurement applications.

The rasterizers have been cleverly designed with a unique onboard digital control screen to control the output of instruments to full HD resolution. Output to a separate screen at full HD 1920 x 1080 is available via a HDMI connection. A separate SDI output allows a secondary output to be routed through a studio.

The onboard screen allows visual setup of the instrument without the need to plug in a separate screen. This feature is especially useful for system integrators on install. The onboard screen enables studio operators to select different screen views ranging from full, bi, tri, quad. The instruments enable scaling of however many instruments required given the 1920 x 1080 screen size. Alternatively standard presets can be activated or an operator can save any special view by selecting one of the 8 memory/control buttons.

Both rasterizers feature optical support and can be configured to support SD, HD and 3G capability.

The Rx 1000 is a 1U height 19” (482cm) rack mount rasterizer with the ability to add up to 8 simultaneous inputs with loop through. The independent FPGA heart of each module is powerful enough to support simultaneous display of instruments across each module. With the 4 modules populated this works out to 8 analysis instruments with central control and report logging – a world’s first and establishes the Rx 1000 as a perfect engineering bay and broadcast manufacturing solution.

The Rx 500 is a 1U height half rack mount instrument which is small and light enough to fit a variety of applications from camera shading in OB environments or studio editing suites as well as manufacturing R&D departments. The Rx 500 continues the modular theme and has two input slots with 4 simultaneous inputs. All inputs are switchable and each can be independently controlled. The Rx 1000 and the Rx 500 rasterizers also support PHABRIX’s award winning eye and jitter technology.

Initially analyzer and generator modules will be available followed shortly by DOLBY, MADI and AES audio modules. Composite and ASI modules will also be available for the Rx range.
