The PHABRIX Rx range of test and measurement instruments adds a rack mounted device to its highly successful 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI test and measurement equipement range. Available quarter 2 2009, the Rx range has been designed for environments such as central control booths, studio engineering panels and OB facilities providing a necessary 'point of excellence' in support of the test and measurement requirements of the broadcast archietecture within its control..
Housed in a 2U standard rack mount, the Rx has been configured with two modules each allowing separate access to generation and analysis along with monitoring feature sets. This combination can be usefully configured to generate and analyze simultaneously when connected to a range of equipment providing a cost effective solution in the compliance chain.
The Rx ease of use
The PHABRIX Rx benefits from the tried and tested ergonomics of the highly succesful Sx range, the two 4.3" colour TFT screens capable of generating and displaying a range of test patterns and logging information. Direct control is via the eight buttons under each display which are further reflected in the GUI with colour coded highlight of the toolset in use.
Each screen can be calibrated to a user-defined luminescence and the rack itself can be altered to the correct viewing angle if mounted overhead, eyeline or in a desktop position. The unit fits within an industry standard 19" wide rack with careful consideration for air flow and power requirements. Power consumption to the unit is regulated for minimum power when not in use.
Back connections of the Rx include a 10/100BaseT ethernet port for configuration and control along with 5 BNC connections for 3G, HD or SD. The external power supply uses an industry standard DIN connector with cord lock and is supplied as standard.
Focussed technology
Upgrades are available via password protected codes which can be downloaded and entered into the Rx via Ethernet.
Feature rich, application specific
The Rx offers Auto Bi-level, Tri-level and SDI genlock with cross lock capability. The combined audio features of the Rx include support for 16 channels of embedded audio.
The integrated SDI status displays input format and Y and C CRC checking in HD with the status changes being written to a log file as they occur. The log file can be output from the unit and printed as required. The sophisticated error logging reports all detected arrors and displays error count and time since the last reported error. The counters can be reset at any time and are colour coded - usefully red for error.
