Newbury, UK – 14 December 2021: Leading test and measurement instrument manufacturer, PHABRIX, is pleased to announce that 7thSense, has purchased a PHABRIX QxL 25G IP ST 2110 rasterizer for SDI and advanced IP 2110 product verification in-house, and at onsite installations. Both companies joined forces to develop the capability to output the next generation of ST 2110 IP formats, including UHD/4K 12bit 444 60p. 7thSense is a global leader in advanced media serving, pixel management and show control technologies for markets including theme parks, planetariums, digital signage, live events, projection mapped installations, 3D entertainment theatres and visitor attractions.

Richard Brown, CTO, 7thSense, said, “As we begin delivering SMPTE 2110 support from our Delta Media Server and Juggler pixel processor products, we needed to ensure all of our solutions comply to the required specifications. We needed test and measurement technology that we could rely on, was robust, and supported the wide variety of formats we need to test.

Having used PHABRIX’s Qx rasterizer previously in both the UK and USA, we knew the company had a great reputation for its SDI technology. With their superb customer support and understanding of SMPTE 2110, and willingness to work with us to develop and evolve the product to support new industry-leading standards such as UHD/4K 12bit 444 60p, it was an easy decision to upgrade to the QxL.

The PHABRIX QxL is a flexible, compact 25GbE UHD rasterizer designed to meet the requirements of 10GbE/25GbE IP workflows suitable for professional broadcast. Out of the box, this IP enabled rasterizer supports generation and analysis of JT-NM TR 1001-1:2018, 2110-20 (video), 2110-30 (PCM audio), 2110-31 (AES audio), and 2110-40 (ANC) media flows, all with 2022-7 Seamless IP Protection Switching (SIPS), and independent PTP slaves on each media port for fully redundant media network operation.

The QxL is one of the first devices of its type for which SDI is an option – not part of the core – making it significantly better value for HD IP broadcast ops users today. Licenses can be added to accommodate UHD/4K (eUHD) 444 50p, 59.94, 60p formats, PCAP of 25G interfaces and extended UHD payloads. HDR/WCG options can also be added to meet future needs. The QxL comes as standard with a comprehensive range of tools (up to 80 channels of audio per 2110-30/31 flow), Quality Control tools, Closed Caption and Loudness monitoring.

PHABRIX Product Manager, Prinyar Boon, said, “It has been a pleasure working closely with 7thSense this year to help bootstrap development, technical analysis, and debug of the QxL operating with these high data rates.”
